Kate Moss’ Breakdown And Heartache

KATE MOSS suffered a nervous breakdown following her iconic nude 1992 Calvin Klein advert, in which she was photographed by Herb Ritts alongside Mark Wahlberg.

"I had a nervous breakdown when I was 17 or 18, when I had to go and work with Marky Mark and Herb Ritts," Moss said. "It didn't feel like me at all. I felt really bad straddling this buff guy. I didn't like it. I couldn't get out of bed for two weeks. I thought I was going to die. I went to the doctor and he said: 'I'll give you some Valium', and Francesca Sorrenti [Moss' friend and mother of Mario Sorrenti], thank God, said: 'You're not taking that.'"

"It was just anxiety. Nobody takes care of you mentally. There's a massive pressure to do what you have to do. I was really little, and I was going to work with Steven Meisel. It was just really weird - a stretch limo coming to pick you up from work. I didn't like it. But it was work and I had to do it."

Alice Auaa RTW Spring 2013

Alice Yasutaka Funakoshi's spring collection 2013 -inspired by Alice in Wonderland, was chock full of the kind of theatricality for which his brand is known. Models emerged from a fog wearing tattered hoop skirts, lace covered corsets and Victorian style bloomers, as well as sculptural gothic dresses. Some of the more unusual exits included a red plaid snake-like tube that spiraled around one model from head to toe, and metal frames in the shape of giant playing cards held up and attached to a nearly naked male model with a leather harness. At the end of the show the designer came out in a goth-looking rabbit costume and removed the head to take his bow.

Tim Walker Previews Mulberry Sponsored Exhibit

The exhibition, Story Teller, features images and films from Walker’s fantastical and whimsical repertoire and the props used to create them. His portraits include Vivienne Westwood, Alber Elbaz, Alexander McQueen and Anna Piaggi.

Walker has made no secret of his desire to direct a feature film, and he said he spent the summer reading books in search of one he might adapt. He found four: “I’m in the process of trying to negotiate the rights for four books. It’s quite a complicated process,” he said, but declined to give further details.

Karl Lagerfeld explains Chanel's hula-hoop beach bag

At the Chanel spring 2013 show, Karl Lagerfeld presented the hula-hoop/beach bag.
"It's for the beach, "Lagerfeld told the Daily Telegraph post-show. "You need space for the beach towel. And then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it." Which makes sense, actually, except there are a lot of other, less expensive ways to hang your wet bathing suit at the beach. Like, on your umbrella. Or on a surfboard, if you're into that. Or on the back of your beach chair, like the rest of the world who might not have the upper body strength to tote that thing around.

Elie Saab Spring 2013 Paris Fashion Week

Elie Saab Spring 2013 - this collection with a more youthful vibe than in seasons past. Several fluid dresses in a bright, Rorschach-like print had a casual elegance that felt fresh. There was also some appealing tailoring: a button-down shirt with matching pants, and a sculpted jacket, shorts and handbag, all worked in a strong blue tone. While they were heavy on monochromatics, the looks had a working-girl sensibility .

Still, plenty of Saab’s more expected eveningwear was mixed in, including embellished formfitting lace dresses - both short and sexy and long and slinky - in nude, turquoise and fiery red. The strongest ones came in the finale: gowns in a fine lace with ribbons placed around the lower torso and waist to accentuate a more sensual silhouette -They added a romantic touch.

Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 Paris Fashion Week

"It was bringing back the silhouette of the house and embracing the female form - the hip and bust. But there was a lightness to it. It still felt erotic but not overt," explained Burton.

Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 collection - taking honey in all its forms and working it up into the most beautiful clothes. Honeycomb mesh made for sharply-executed jackets and pencil skirts, a circular mesh disc for a new take on a beekeeper's hat up top; it then morphed into being honeycomb jacquard for more precise tailoring with cropped trousers beneath and scythe-like shoes with glistening heels that seemed to melt into existence.
