Christopher Kane worked in a palette of black, gray, deep purple and cobalt blue, tossing some natural prints into the mix. There were sumptuous leather shifts with frogging details, sculptural velvet cocktail dresses and other velvet numbers covered in Day-Glo flower prints. A slightly sinister black-and-white jaguar print was worked on goatskin and leather shirts and coats. “I’m carrying on the successful shapes from past seasons, and showing prints from previous seasons that have never been used,” said Kane, who added that part of his inspiration came from Hammer horror films. To wit, a T-shirt was printed with an oversize Dracula face and a skirt was dotted with bits of unwoven jacquard, recalling the bites and scratches of a werewolf.
