Karl Lagerfeld to Launch Kids' Wear

The Karl Lagerfeld brand is uniting with Children Worldwide Fashion, a French manufacturing and distribution company that is responsible for the childrenswear collections of luxury heavyweights Burberry, Marc Jacobs, ChloƩ and DKNY.

The Chanel and Fendi creative director will launch two collections a year for newborns right up to 16-year-olds under the Karl Lagerfeld label, which he relaunched in 2012 and which has standalone shops on London‘s Regent Street and across the world in Paris, Shanghai, Copenhagen, Saint Petersburg and Berlin.

There’s not much that Karl Lagerfeld hasn’t designed in his eight decades on this earth – glassware, Haute Couture, Diet Coke bottles and high street collaborations all form part of the mix – but childrenswear is one road that he’s never really explored.

Lagerfeld has never had children of his own but has experience designing for his godson Hudson Kroenig - who is a regular on the Chanel Haute Couture catwalk and a certain baby North West - whom he photographed wearing a custom-made Chanel cardigan when she was just 13 months old.
